Electric City Works is the exciting retail experience created by owners Tara Lee and Adam Genge who started the business out of their home in 2015. Originally launching the business as Chalk Therapy, the team began refinishing, redesigning, and upcycling old, vintage, and antique furniture to breathe new life to forgotten furniture. Their team can help you refresh your existing furniture, find a new item for your home, or learn new painting techniques to help you find or create the perfect piece for your home.
Their first retail location opened in 2017 on Erskine Ave after becoming finalists in the Win This Space Competition. After 2 years in that location, they had already outgrown their space and saw an opportunity to expand to downtown Peterborough.
Tara Lee and Adam moved Chalk Therapy to its new location at 200 Charlotte Street in downtown Peterborough in October 2019 while rebranding the business Electric City Works. Their move to Charlotte Street gave them enough space to bring their full vision to life. This included providing plenty of retail and workshop space along with event space, partnering with other local makers to sell on-site, and room for expansion as their business and creativity grew.
They are excited to continue to provide DIY expertise through their knowledgeable and hands on staff, who can help you with anything from picking the right paint colour, to teaching advanced techniques during their workshops, so that you can make the most of your projects, big or small.
Their location is focused on showcasing the incredible talent in the community and gives their customers the chance to shop for all their home décor needs in one unique space.
The fully licensed building hosts a Market featuring local beer and wine to enjoy while experiencing the marketspace, events, and workshops. They now also have fresh homemade baked goods, soups and sandwiches, grocery items, and heat at home meals available in their Market for an easy, convenient shopping experience.
Electric City Works is your one stop shopping destination for everything you need to make your house a home. Follow on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with what’s new, and to find inspiration for your next project.
