Electric City Works is the exciting next chapter for Chalk Therapy owners Tara Lee and Adam Genge who started Chalk Therapy out of their home in 2015. With their passion for the work and business both quickly expanding, they applied and became finalists in the 2017 Win This Space Competition, and soon after opened their first location in 2017 on Erskine Avenue, providing both retail and workshop space.
Since opening their doors, Chalk Therapy has continued to grow and create a community of like minded makers. With the need for a larger space and wanting to showcase other local artisans, Tara Lee and Adam began looking for an opportunity to be in downtown Peterborough. With their vision to continue to expand the Chalk Therapy brand and help to grow the local entrepreneurial and arts community, Electric City Works became a reality.
Tara Lee and Adam moved Chalk Therapy to the new location at 200 Charlotte Street, downtown Peterborough in October 2019 while finalizing the remaining marketspace renovations. The full location opened in November 2019 as Electric City Works, and is home to Chalk Therapy, providing the same great products and services you’ve come to expect, along with over 20 local makers and artists. Artists and Makers at Electric City Works have their own space to display, create and sell their products while utilizing workshop space to teach others their techniques.
Along with the makers and artists, Electric City Works acts as a potential incubator for small businesses to build their brands.
This location showcases the incredible talent in our community and gives our customers the chance to shop these products in one location while watching the makers work on their craft. The licensed building also hosts a café featuring local beer and wine to enjoy while experiencing the marketspace.
Chalk Therapy refinishes, redesigns, and upcycles old, vintage and antique furniture to breath new life to forgotten furniture.
